Meitheal Leaders

The Meitheal Youth Leadership Programme is a structured initiative where a team of ten Sixth Year students work together to create a caring and supportive school community. Their main role is to help First Year students adjust to life in secondary school, ensuring that their transition from primary school is positive and welcoming.

In keeping with our school motto—“Empowering Minds, Shaping Futures and Celebrating Success”—the Meitheal team empowers younger students by offering guidance, encouragement, and reassurance as they begin this new chapter. Each First Year class has an assigned Meitheal Leader who acts as a familiar, approachable support throughout the year. Whether it’s navigating timetables, managing lockers, or finding classrooms, the leaders are there to help with the practical challenges of secondary school. Just as importantly, they also provide emotional support, offering understanding and advice whenever it is needed.

The presence of Meitheal Leaders helps shape the future of our First Year students by giving them the confidence to settle in, make friends, and grow both academically and personally. Their success—big or small—is celebrated along the way, reinforcing the idea that every student belongs and can thrive here at Scoil Chonglais”
